SBI Circle Based Officer Syllabus Overview
The State Bank of India conducts the Circle Based Officer (CBO) Exam with a comprehensive syllabus covering three distinct phases: Online Test, Screening, and Interview.
I. Online Test:
The Online Test comprises two papers, Objective and Descriptive, totaling 170 marks.

II. Screening:
Following the online examination, the online applications and documents of qualifying candidates are presented before the Screening Committee for further evaluation.
III. Interview:
The Interview holds a weightage of 50 marks. To advance to the final selection stage, candidates must attain the minimum qualifying marks in the interview, the specifics of which are determined by the Bank.

SBI CBO Exam Pattern is structured in Three Phases – 1. Phase I, 2. Phase II, 3. Phase III.
The selection process involves Online Test, Screening, and Interview.
A) Online Test: Online test comprises Objective Tests for 120 marks and a Descriptive Test for 50 marks. The Descriptive Test is administered immediately after the conclusion of the Objective Test.
(i) Objective Test: The duration is 2 hours and consists of 4 Sections totaling 120 marks with separate timing for each section.

(ii) Descriptive Test: The duration is 30 minutes, focusing on English Language (Letter Writing & Essay) with two questions for a total of 50 marks.
No sectional qualifying marks. Minimum qualifying marks on aggregate will be decided by the Bank.
Penalty for Wrong Answers: No penalty for wrong answers marked in Objective Tests. Sectional marks are not maintained for the Online Examination.
(b) Screening: Online applications and documents of qualifying candidates will be placed before the Screening Committee. The Committee matches the job profile submitted by candidates with the job profile of Scale-I Generalist Officer. Candidates not meeting substantial job profile criteria will have their applications summarily rejected.
Merit list drawn Circle wise and Category wise based on aggregate marks scored in Online Test. Candidates up to 3 times (approx.) of the vacancies will be called for the interview from the merit list.
(c) Interview: Interview consists of 50 marks. Candidates need to score minimum qualifying marks in the interview, decided by the Bank.
Candidates qualifying for interview under ‘OBC’ category must submit OBC certificate with the ‘Non-Creamy layer’ clause.
Final Selection: Candidates need to qualify in both Online Test and Interview separately. Final merit list prepared based on normalization of marks scored in Online Test and Interview with 75:25 weightage respectively.
Marks secured in the Online Test (out of 170 marks) and Interview scores (out of 50 marks) are converted for the final merit list.
Selection made from the top-ranked candidates in the merit list prepared on Circle-wise and Category-wise basis.
